Duo sings 'All Night Long' ... all night long

By Randee Dawn, NBC News contributor

Some songs are not meant to be taken literally. And while an all-night party does sound like a great idea, surely Lionel Richie never intended for his 1983 tune "All Night Long" to be sung for 11 hours.

Web funnyfolk Rhett & Link (Rhett McLaughlin and Charlies Lincoln "Link" Neal) would disagree, and decided to make it happen for real. As their (condensed) video shows, the pair spent 11 hours and 9 minutes doing 158 continuous performances of the song while wandering around L.A.

During the overnight songfest, they croon in an elevator, in a bathroom and even wake up sleeping friends (Internet celebs Shay and Katilette of the Shaytards, according to The Daily Dot), who join in the fun -- all the while toting a large speaker and karaoke microphones and never, ever stopping singing. By the end they're joined by dozens of friends and the Angel City Horns playing the song out as the sun rises.

Although it's not an entrant, the stunt appears to be connected to a contest being held by Trident gum (noted at the end of the video).?

Once you've enjoyed the shortened version, you'll undoubtedly want to check out the director's cut -- or rather, the 11-hour uncut version. That was originally online but is now down; the YouTube comments for the condensed version promise it will be back. And then everyone can enjoy the stunt all night long.
